Relish @ My village

Whenever I am at My village, I would only be there for the bank or NTUC. Little did I know the second floor had amazing dining options!

Tried Relish for the first time, mind you, I'm not a cafe hopper, and most of my daily meals consists of coffee shop food as it is the most convenient to get my hands on after work.

 

Was surprised by the cute interior and the atmosphere did not seem like I'm in Singapore.

Looking out the window, I would see the Christmas lights on the trees.

Ordered Mushroom soup.

And it was not just your normal canned watery mushroom soup. 

It was thick and mushroomy, it was like taking a blender

There was also the seafood aglio olio, as yummy as it looks!

We also ordered the steak and the charsiew burger! The steak was tender and the charsiew was more like the kong ba in the kong ba pau. Not so much of the char siew though. For those who are looking to go on a diet, the char siew burger is not your dish to order! It was satisfyingly fattening and sinful!!

Dinner at a Kelong - Restoran Asli!

Its been a busy busy week and the holiday mood is over!

soon, it would be CNY again.

How time flies.

So back to our Christmas/ year end treat from one of our working partners in JB.

He brought us to a kelong to eat a sumptuous meal of Seafood by the waters!

Yes, authentic good food.

Drove for about a half an hour to a little corner kampong. yes, a really typical kampong.

Less than half an hours drive from Woodlands checkpoint, passing by Danga Bay, it is very easy to get to another world from the busy city.

The fish was soft and juicy, and the sauce was tasty.

you will never understand the emphasis of the words I am typing, but when I say tasty, it reads as TAAAASSTTYYYYY. (lol)

I would say the environment is a little different from the life in Singapore, the kampongs and the run down place would let you think about all the blessings you should count, for what we already have.

The little children would come up to you asking for small change, wearing old and dirty slippers. 

It really calls for a reality check.

As for the food, I would say it is very affordable. a little less than 300 ringgit for 10 pax. WOOOW!

The food was DELICIOUS. if you're looking for a place to eat, 

you might want to give here a thought. 

I had no problems after eating the food, so I would say it is relatively safe to eat?

(For those who are cleanliness conscious.)

Xmas Dinner with the little MICES

Booked the Duxton Hotel for our Xmas gathering.

It was a Monday evening, and we headed to Duxton hotel just before work ended.

Booked the room on the upper most floor (3rd) with a mezzanine, with the bed and toilet on the second floor.

Heading into the hotel lobby was like travelling back in time.

I felt like I travelled back to the 1960's era.

The lobby was themed and each furniture felt like it had a story. Heading into the lift, it was super tiny. 4-5 pax was a very tight fit. (It was 3 floors only anyway, anyone could have just walked the stairs)

  As the door lift opens, the hall ways relatively bright lit, feeling is still the same, I felt like I was back in time when the Titanic was sinking while I was in the hotel room.

As the room had a mezzanine, we were located on the upper most floor of the building.

The room was cosy, and the interior was very nice for a photo shoot actually. 

The room was a little dark on the first level, but up to the second floor, it was better lit, as the toilet was there.

Honestly, the room was a little uncomfortable on the 2nd floor, and none of us stayed in the hotel in the end. My conclusion, the mezzanine was the attic of the building and they probably converted it into the sleeping area.

For sure I did not feel or see anything per say, but the comfort level of this hotel is just a little creepy.

Vivien cooked some Xmas themed mini "buffet" for us!

Everything was realllyyyyy good.

Ate tonnes of penne with the sauce and tonnes of nuggets!

Liting gave up on Nadiah & I halfway upon knowing it was 9 burst shots and not 4!

Ending off the night playing the S game.

It was a really simple, enjoyable and non alcoholic night for us. I never knew I could have so much fun without alcohol. More healthy activities for me please!
